What can I do to take care of my car when it rains?

As you may already know if you’re living in the Los Angeles area, it’s been raining spontaneously. I’m so relieved that Valentines weekend was a sunny one. However, the rain can cause damage to you car’s clear coat, and if it’s not taken care of, can cause permanent damage to your car’s paint.

I’ve been asked this question by customers, “What can I do to take care of my car when it rains?”

Black or dark color cars will show the most when there is acid rain damage.  Oxidation is the first sign of rain damage, where the acid in the rain is, in simple terms, burning a layer off.

Answer: You’ll want to wash your car immediately after it rains and add a layer of wax. Or what’s better is a paint sealant, which lasts two times as long as wax does. This will remove the new layer of acid that is on the car and then protect it in the future the next two to six months, depending on where your car is parked and the type of protection (wax or paint sealnt) on the car.
